What mobile money actually does here
Mobile money is widespread in Ghana and almost everyone already has a wallet, which makes it the obvious way to settle the Ghana Cedis half of a China payment. What it does is let you pay the Cedis side from your phone, without a bank visit or a counter.
What it does not do is connect directly to Chinese payment platforms. You will read claims online that suggest you can push money from a Ghanaian wallet straight into Alipay or WeChat Pay. That is not how it works. They are separate systems with no direct link between them.
The two-step reality
The process is genuinely two steps. Step one: you send Ghana Cedis from your mobile wallet to the payment details shown in your ELITE RMB transaction, quoting your transaction reference. Step two: ELITE RMB delivers the RMB to the recipient account you specified in China.
Understanding that separation matters, because it explains why your wallet cannot be the recipient account and why the recipient does not need a mobile wallet. The wallet only exists on your side of the transaction.
Getting the mobile money step right
Create the transaction before you send anything. You need the reference and you should check the amount and the destination shown in your dashboard rather than relying on memory.
When you pay, put your transaction reference in the payment description. Then keep the confirmation message from your wallet. Together, the reference and the confirmation contain everything needed to trace the payment if it is not matched quickly, which turns a frustrating back-and-forth into a single support message.
Choosing which wallet to use
Use the wallet you already operate, and confirm that the funding method is offered for your transaction before you plan around it. Available methods are shown when you create the transaction. The pages for MTN MoMo and Telecel Cash describe each route and what applies to it.
